Incepto Medical, the leading European medical imaging, artificial intelligence platform, today announces the completion of a $16 million financing round. The round is led by Impactivist, an investment fund dedicated to companies whose growth generates measurable societal value, with the strong participation of Incepto’s existing investors: LBO France, Karista, BPI France, Wille Finance.

With this round, Incepto is creating an Impact Committee as part of its governance, tasked with measuring and steering the company’s contribution across four societal impact pillars: patients, healthcare professionals, equitable access to AI and trust in AI.

A European platform already serving 6 million patients a year

Founded in 2018 by Florence Moreau, Antoine Jomier and Dr Gaspard d’Assignies, Incepto has become the leading European medical imaging, artificial intelligence platform. More than 1000 medical centers across ten countries use its solutions, and 6 million patients a year benefit from an AI-assisted examination.

With this footprint, and from clinical research papers published, Incepto can already assess that close to 2.000 additional cases of breast cancer are detected per year and would have been missed without the use of AI. Incepto contributes to the reduction of length of stay in the emergency department by 27% with faster triage for patients or enable the reduction of waiting time for a complex exam like Prostate MRI by 4 weeks. These are tangible impacts of the use of AI in imaging.

Incepto is trusted by some of Europe’s most prestigious healthcare institutions, among them Helios in Germany, pan-European groups like Affidea or Unilabs, CUF in Portugal, Hospitales de Madrid in Spain, CDI in Italy, the Luxembourg hospitals, Group 3R, ELSAN and two third of university hospitals in France.

Incepto is also trusted by the largest players in the industry, having signed global distribution agreements with many of them. Through these agreements, Incepto is expanding beyond Europe, with a particular focus on the United States, where it has already recorded its first major wins.

Driving positive change and impact

Since its foundation, Incepto made impact its core DNA. The company isn’t just implementing AI solutions, it ensures they create tangible clinical and business value for patients and clinical organization.

With his round, Incepto is taking it a step further with Impact measurement written in its governance.

The Impact Committee will steer Incepto’s contribution around four pillars, each backed by three measured indicators:

• Patients: monitor the number of patients benefiting from AI-assisted imaging, the quality impact and shortening of patient pathways.
• Healthcare professionals: administrative time saved per examination and per patient, and radiologist satisfaction (Net Promoter Score).
• Equitable access to AI: share of AI-assisted examinations performed outside expert centers, number of non-expert centers equipped, number of patients served in those centres.
• Trust in AI: real-life monitoring and quality control of AI, user trust score, AI literacy among healthcare professionals.

Equitable access is central to this thesis. AI in imaging has largely been deployed first in large expert centers, while the shortage of radiologists is most acute in regional hospitals and smaller practices. Measuring where AI is actually used, and not only how much of it is sold, is the condition for closing that gap.

Accelerating the mission

The new funding allows Incepto to accelerate on four fronts:

• Scaling TANGO product, its unique generative AI reporting assistant, across Europe and the United States
• Strengthening its monitoring and post-market surveillance capabilities, which turn real-world usage data into evidence of clinical benefit
• Extending the curated portfolio of best in class AI applications available on the platform to help more patients and impact new clinical domains.
• Pursue targeted strategic acquisitions that complement our core technology platform
